Inside Higginson: What We’re Listening To

Back to News + Views

The pandemic was a strange and anxious time. It led us to cling to comforts: things that can make you feel and escape.

Music and podcasts can do exactly that; lifting moods, entertaining, and keeping you company on the MANY walks taken. The joy of music is universal.

As the days get longer and the Easter weekend approaches, we asked Higgingson what they’re currently listening to.

John Higginson, Partner

Tracey Chapman – Subcity.

So powerful and such a haunting reminder that it is always the poorest hit hardest during hard times

Liz Gyekye, Head of Research

‘Ain’t That Good News’ by Sam Cooke. I think he was one of the all time great singers. Also, we need some good news after the bad Covid stuff that we have all been through.

Alex Pegler, Senior Account Manager

Lil Wayne – Right Above It feat. Drake

Stephen Dillon, Account Manager

I love songs that start slowly then build up to a huge crescendo. I love songs packed with ideas and clever lyrics that reward repeat listens. I love songs that manage to capture the moment in which they are released. And I love songs that are slightly weird.

For all these reasons, I have been obsessed with ‘I Know The End’ by Phoebe Bridgers since it was released last year. It is a truly memorable, unique (and slightly weird) song.

Esme Parkins, Account Manager

The Adam Buxton Podcast.

Jacob Metcalf, Senior Account Executive

Black Sabbath – Voodoo.

Charlotte Radcliffe, Senior Account Executive

Good Days – SZA

I always listen to this first thing in the morning for some positive vibes. It makes me feel like summer is right around the corner, bringing longer and sunnier days with it!

Isla Tweed, Account Executive

Masquerade – Gerideau & MJ Cole.

Polly De Burgh Marsh, Account Executive

Coffee – Sylvan Esso (gamechanger of a song!)

Lauren Aston, Executive Assistant

Table Manners with Jessie Ware.

Bella Shorrock, Social Media Executive

Window – Still Woozy. The best song for long drives.
