What we did

Challenge

There are many highly successful environmental campaigns in the world today, but often they don’t work together effectively and measure success by action taken in their specific area. Nature 2030, Higginson Strategy’s internal campaign, sought to overcome this. Launched in 2019, its aim was to consolidate efforts to tackle the profound challenges posed by habitat destruction, climate change, and pollution of all kinds.

Solution

Then chaired by UN Patron of the Wilderness Ben Fogle, the campaign immediately turned its attention to the issue of air pollution, and ensuring an ambitious legally-binding target for this was instated in UK law. Higginson Strategy collaborated with some of the UK’s most visionary thinkers to do this, including Rosamund Adoo-Kissi-Debrah.

Outcome

We delivered policy and public relations campaigns to achieve coverage in a number of top-tier publications, including the BBC and The Times. This resulted in a major victory, with the Clean Air Bill (or Ella’s Law) introduced to Parliament by Baroness Jenny Jones in May 2022.

“Nature 2030 will take the necessary steps to help achieve material change to protect and enhance our environment. Now more than ever we need a joined-up approach to ending climate destruction before it’s too late. We will work with activists, businesses and politicians, bridging the gap between the fields of commerce and campaigning to rise to the challenge in the make or break decade for global nature.”
