Higginson Strategy has been awarded the prestigious “Best In-House Consultancy Collaboration” at the PRCA Public Affairs Awards for their exceptional work with the Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) campaign.
The award celebrates the successful partnership between the consultancy and WASPI, which has been instrumental in advocating for justice for the 3.6 million women born in the 1950s who were not properly informed about changes to their state pension age.
Through strategic communications and a focused campaign approach, Higginson Strategy has helped WASPI maintain significant media visibility, secure parliamentary support, and advance their legal challenge against the Government’s decision to reject compensation recommendations.
Angela Madden, Chair of Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) said:
“This award recognises the exceptional collaboration we have built with Higginson Strategy, who have been tireless advocates for our cause. Their strategic guidance and communications expertise have been invaluable in amplifying the voices of WASPI women across the UK.”
“At a critical time in our campaign, with our judicial review moving forward, having Higginson’s professional communications support has been essential in challenging the Government’s irrational decision to deny us the compensation recommended by the Parliamentary Ombudsman.”
John Higginson, CEO of Higginson Strategy said:
“We are honoured to receive this recognition alongside the incredible WASPI campaign. This collaboration represents a true partnership in fighting for justice for millions of women who have been unfairly treated.
“We stand shoulder to shoulder with the WASPI campaigners, unwavering in our commitment to secure the fair and swift compensation they deserve.”
The award comes as WASPI continues its legal challenge against the Department for Work and Pensions, which has rejected the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman’s recommendation for compensation despite accepting that maladministration occurred.
