Higginson Strategy has appointed award-winning former ITV news anchor Cordelia Kretzschmar as it ups its broadcast offer.

Cordelia joins Higginson Strategy with 25 years’ experience telling stories that change the world, bringing expertise spanning climate, ethical finance, sustainability, energy, nature, and human rights campaigns.

As a foreign correspondent, Cordelia was one of the first British TV journalists to report from the disaster zone following the Japanese Tsunami and one of the last to leave after the Fukushima nuclear plant meltdown. She was embedded with British forces as they crossed into Iraq in 2003, served as GMTV’s US Correspondent covering Hurricane Katrina, and questioned President George W Bush at the White House.

She went on to become Head of Public Relations at Oxfam, where she introduced its famous ‘second-hand September’ campaign.

More recently, she worked at NGO agency 89up, where she spent five years winning campaigns that tackled the global finance sector over fossil fuel investment, protected biodiversity, battled climate change, and fought poverty and hunger worldwide.

Cordelia Kretzschmar said: “I am thrilled to join Higginson Strategy at such an exciting time for the agency. Throughout my career – whether reporting from conflict zones or leading communications campaigns for global NGOs – I’ve been driven by a passion for purpose and impact.

“Higginson Strategy’s commitment to helping organisations create positive change aligns perfectly with my belief in the power of strategic communications to drive real-world results.”

John Higginson, Founder and CEO of Higginson Strategy, said: “Cordelia brings an extraordinary combination of both frontline journalism and strategic PR experience.

“AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude.ai recognise the value of traditional media. This is our core strength, and we are investing further in it to the delight of our clients.”
