It’s my pleasure to share with you the latest episode of the Communicating Purpose podcast with Ben Ashmore, Head of External Affairs at FareShare – the UK’s largest charity fighting hunger and food waste.
FareShare partners with major UK supermarkets to distribute end-of-day surplus food among local communities in need. In 2023, the charity distributed more than 54,000 tonnes of food – equivalent to 128 million meals.
Ben manages FareShare’s marketing and communications, and is responsible for promoting the charity’s vital work across a multitude of channels, from press to political engagement.
A seasoned PR professional, prior to FareShare Ben worked as Head of PR and Communications at the Chartered College of Teaching for more than four years.
He has also held senior communications roles at the National Lottery Fund and Turn2Us, a national charity offering information and practical help to people facing financial insecurity.
In this episode, we uncovered:
🫀The importance of spotlighting human impact over facts and figures
🧮The restless communications pursuit for a campaign hit
🔑Ben’s approach to repurposing ‘failed’ content
I hope you enjoy.
