I was lucky enough to work with Higginson Strategy as part of my Study Abroad programme at Boston University. While I had no prior experience in Communications outside of social media marketing, I was extremely excited to work at a firm with an extensive political and environmental background which aligned with my studies. My experience at Higginson Strategy has been extremely valuable.
As an International Relations major, I was looking for ways to become involved in politics and policymaking in the UK and my time at Higginson Strategy did exactly that. Each week I had the opportunity to participate in sell-ins, drafting press releases and parliamentary briefings, and join meetings with clients. The work I was given allowed me to grow and adapt to the fast-paced needs of a Communications agency. Engaging in public affairs work in particular was very rewarding for me and has expanded my understanding of the UK’s political environment.
Furthermore, Higginson Strategy’s ‘purpose-driven’ foundation and clientele made me feel like my work had a truly positive impact. From working on the Empower campaign against period poverty, to assisting in open letter pitching for environmental clients, all the work I did felt meaningful and important. Everyone here is extremely passionate and driven to make the world a better place.
The entire Higginson Strategy team was extremely welcoming and helpful. Their guidance helped me jump head-first into the internship. The supportive and friendly environment made me feel comfortable seeking feedback and asking questions, I learned so much from everyone on the team.
I am extremely happy with my placement at Higginson Strategy and am very grateful for my time here. I was challenged in the new environment, but I feel I was supported to learn and grow.
My experience here has been extremely valuable, one that I know I’ll benefit from later on in my career.
