EMPOWER launches period poverty campaign

Back to News + Views

On Wednesday 19th April, Higginson Strategy’s internal campaign for women and minority rights, EMPOWER, hosted a webinar discussion on period poverty to kick off its campaign that asks the UK to introduce free period products for all.

EMPOWER’s expert panel was made up of cross-party politicians, NGOs and campaigners that helped build the case for urgent action across the country to tackle period poverty and the stigma surrounding period rights.

Chaired by Habiba Katsha, Lifestyle Reporter at Huffington Post, panellists included: Kirsten Oswald MP, Spokesperson for Women and Equalities; Baroness Verma, Former Ministerial Champion for Tackling VAWG Overseas; Rachel Grocott, CEO of Bloody Good Period; Holly Plews, Founder of Free the Flow; Cllr Mark Nuti, Cabinet Member for Adults and Health, Surrey County Council and Mark Gwynne, Strategic Lead for Communities, Wokingham Borough Council.

We thank those who could attend and encourage you to watch the recorded webinar if you missed it.
